DIRECTOR - SHARON BOSWELL  

Sharon Boswell, RAD RTS, RAD T. DIPLOMA

Principal & Artistic Director

Born in Malaysia, Sharon Boswell began her early classical training there with Cynthia Too (L.R.A.D.) and later with Anna Kronenburg (A.R.A.D.). She received training in classical ballet, jazz, musical theatre, acting and national / ethnic dance. She moved to Vancouver in 1988 to further her dance training and to pursue a career in dance. Sharon has taught throughout the Lower Mainland before forming the Boswell Dance Academy in 1994. She teaches the Children's, Higher and major Grades of the R.A.D. Syllabi to both Junior and Senior Divisions of the school.

 Lacey Clarke

Jazz, Tap Hip Hop & Musical Theatre

Lacey is a highly accomplished dancer in Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Ballet, Voice, Stage, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Rhythmic Gymnastics. She has trained with some of the top choreographers in North America. Lacey holds many International Championship titles, among them the Miss U.S.A. Dance Classic and she is the five time gold medallist of the International Tap and Jazz Competition held in Reisa, Germany. She has also received many top awards as a choreographer and we are proud to have her coaching our competitive division.

Lauren Nottingham     BFA, B Ed

Classical Ballet & Modern 

Lauren  received her dance training with Canadian Dance World and Boswell Dance Academy and is experienced in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern and Contemporary dance styles. Lauren received her Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts majoring in Dance as well as a Bachelor of Education Degree from SFU. She teaches Ballet to the junior students here at BDA.

 Paula Riddell

Hip Hop & Jazz

Paula trained with the Boswell Dance Academy in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop. She has successfully completed her R.A.D. Ballet Examinations and danced with B.D.A.'s Advanced Competitive Jazz Group as well as a soloist. Paula has trained with the S.F.U. Cheer and Stunt Team and was a Dance Choreographer for high school competitive cheerleading teams. She now brings her energetic dance style to her classes at B.D.A. and our competitive groups. 

Julia Jensen-Colton

Classical Ballet

Julia began dancing at the age of three and her training includes Ballet, Modern, Neo Classical, Lyrical Jazz and Flamenco. With the competition of all major R.A.D. examinations Julia continued on to receive her Solo Seal Award. Her summers were spent in Seattle on scholarship, attending The Pacific Northwest Ballet School Summer intensives studying the Balanchine Technique. A strong passion for dance led Julia to Toronto where she graduated from the National Ballet School of Canada's Post Secondary Program. While there she had the pleasure of working with known choreographers James Kedelka, Lindsay Fischer, and Rudi VanDanzig. Julia's professional career has taken her all over the world including Beijing and Shanghai China, where she performed Esmeralda and Don Quixote grande pas-de-deuxs. In Canada Julia danced with the National Ballet of Canada, The Ottmann Viennese Dance Ensemble, and the Vancouver Goh Ballet Youth Company. She is currently a Soloist with "Move: the company." touring and performing throughout BC and at the Bangkok International Festival of Dance and Music in Bangkok, Thailand. We are most honoured to have her working with our vocational and pre-professional division students. 

KATHRYN CARLBERG

Classical Ballet & Modern

Kathryn began her early training at Boswell Dance Academy and completed all 14 consecutive grades of the RAD Ballet Examinations with Honours and Distinction. She has also trained intensively in various other styles, Jazz, Lyrical and Modern. Kathryn performed with our competitive Intermediate and Senior Group and also excelled as a soloist. Graduating from BDA, she then trained intensively at Danzmode Productions before being accepted into S.F.U's Modern Dance Program. She is soon to receive her Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts majoring in Dance and we are so happy to welcome her back as an instructor. 

Rebecca Munroe

Classical Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop

Rebecca is a graduate of Boswell Dance Academy,  completing all the R.A.D. Graded Examinations with Distinction. She is an accomplished dancer in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical & Hip Hop and danced competitively over the years as a soloist as well as performing in B.D.A.'s Advanced Competitive Group. We are pleased to have Rebecca teaching our Jr.-Intermediate and Teen classes.

MIKAYLA FANSEGA (Admin)

Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre

Mikayla is a graduate of the Boswell Dance Academy, completing training in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop. She has competed extensively with BDA's competitive group and also as a soloist. She teaches in the Jr. ansd Intermediate divisions of the school and is also in charge of our Student Administration. Her love of dance and joy of teaching children makes Mikayla one of our most dedicated teachers.

MICHELLE BEDRY 

Tap, Ballet, Jazz & Lyrical.

Michelle is currently an Advanced student of BDA and a strong member of our Senior Competitive Group. She has excelled in all her RAD examinations and competed in groups and solos throughout the years. Michelle is a dedicated instructor who inspires her students with her energy and technique and we are proud to have Michelle on our team of teachers.
